Big Bog State Recreation Area

Big Bog State Recreation Area contains a 500-square-mile peat bog, the largest in the lower 48 states, and a mile-long boardwalk allows visitors to view the rare plant and animal life that live here. The recreation area also includes a campground, winterized camper cabins, a sandy beach, picnic grounds, and great fishing.

Itasca State Park

Established in 1891, Itasca is Minnesota's oldest state park. Today, the park totals more than 32,000 acres and includes more than 100 lakes. Walk across the mighty Mississippi as it starts its winding journey 2,552 miles to the Gulf of Mexico.

Hike The Lost Forty

A one-mile self-guided trail winds its way through the majestic pines of the Lost Forty. Carry-in boat access is located on the north side of Coddington Lake. These white and red pines are 300- 400 years old, originating when the pilgrims came to America.

Headwaters Science Center

Science is an adventure story that captures the imagination of young and old that has been unfolding for thousands of years. Headwaters Science Center brings it all together - and it's fun! A guest can interact with over 40 hands-on exhibits, go to a demonstration, watch a sky show in a portable planetarium, participate in a workshop or touch and hold a variety of live animals.

Bemidji State Park

In the pine-moraine setting on the north shore of 6,420 acre Lake Bemidji, this state park affords visitors an enjoyable combination of Minnesota lake country recreation and the natural experiences of the northern forest. The short hike to the bluff at Rocky Point high above the blue waters, under a canopy of pine, birch and maple, is both memorable and inspirational.

Camp Rabideau

Take a step into the past at historic Camp Rabideau located on a 112- acre tract purchased in 1934. The weathered green buildings, perhaps the best preserved of the CCC camps in the nation, are set about 100 feet apart, surrounded by tall trees forming a large glade in the center. Part of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's mammoth New Deal, Camp Rabideau was one of the 2, 650 camps established across the country in 1935.

Paul Bunyan Animal Land

Lions, tigers, bears and camels - see them all at Paul Bunyan’s Animal Land, Minnesota’s largest wildlife park/petting zoo. Located on Hwy 2 East, between Bemidji & Cass Lake, Animal Land is home to nearly 100 animals representing every continent on earth.
